Metropolitan Atanasije of Mileševa, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, blessed the beginning of works for the replacement of the lead roofing of the Cathedral Church of the Ascension of the Lord at Mileševa Monastery.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Atanasije and the approval of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, the roofing works of the Mileševa Cathedral are being carried out by the company DMD Krov LLC from Novi Pazar.
The owner of the company, Mr. Dragomir Miletić, informed Metropolitan Atanasije of all the details regarding the upcoming works, the materials and techniques to be used, and introduced the workers who will be carrying out the project. According to him, the highest quality materials and equipment have been prepared, and the workers involved have previously worked on similar projects at some of the most important Serbian holy sites, especially in Kosovo and Metohija, from where they originate. All this ensures that the job will be done in the best possible way so that this ancient Nemanjić monastery may shine once again in its full glory.
After visiting the construction site, Metropolitan Atanasije entered the monastery church with all the workers, where a brief prayer service was held to bless the beginning of this God-pleasing work. On that occasion, His Eminence stated:
“Let us pray to God to grant us wisdom, courage, and guidance in all that has been planned and deemed useful, and for the protection of all who will be working. We pray that it all may lead to salvation — of our souls and of those who will benefit from the fruits of our labor. Truly, it is a privilege, granted by God, that we may be engaged in this. We thank God and pray that everything proceeds well.”
