Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia sent a congratulatory letter to the Greek national women’s water polo team, following their gold medal victory at the World Championship held in Singapore, South Asia.
In an emotional and warm message, the Metropolitan praised the athletes for their outstanding achievement, stating: “My children, with great joy and enthusiasm I extend my heartfelt and sincere congratulations for taking first place at the Women’s Water Polo World Championship.”
He highlighted the team’s collective effort and commitment, adding: “The gold medal is the result of your teamwork, your faith in striving for first place through the spirit of ‘noble competition’ — ΕΥ ΑΓΩΝΙΖΕΣΘΑΙ!”
The Metropolitan expressed deep admiration for the athletes’ discipline and moral integrity, noting:“Our emotion is even greater because we admired your quality as athletes, your character, and the preparation you undertook for this effort. You showed that nothing is achieved without hard work, determination, goals, and vision. For this, you are worthy of all praise.”
He also extended his congratulations to those who supported the team: “Congratulations are also due to your parents, your coach, your clubs, and your Federation!”
Concluding, he offered a message of hope and pride: “Greece has a future when it has young people like you!”
