Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Mani has sent a letter to the Ambassador of France expressing his profound dissatisfaction with the blasphemous representation of the “Last Supper” during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. He stated that such an action is not in line with European Christian culture.
Since Friday night, the scene, which depicted Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper” with a performance by drag queens and members of Drag Rag France, has caused a significant stir. Reactions continue to pour in, with Hierarchs from the Church of Greece and the Ecumenical Patriarchate voicing their strong disapproval of the controversial scene, which has been condemned by millions worldwide.

Your Excellency, Ambassador,
In the spirit of Greek-French friendship and as a former student of the esteemed Sorbonne University, I write to express my deep regret and dissatisfaction with the disrespectful incident during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, namely, the blasphemous representation of the “Last Supper.” Such actions are inconsistent with European Christian culture.
I hope that similar provocative and anti-religious acts will not be repeated in the future.
