During his visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, accompanied by his entourage, visited the Church of Panagia Blachernae, renowned for its historical miracle of the Intercession.
The ancient Byzantine church, once the principal shrine dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Constantinople, was destroyed over time. Today, a smaller rebuilt church stands on its site, preserving part of the original sanctuary. This church features a revered spring and an icon of the Blessed Virgin.
There, the Primate offered a prayer for Ukraine, seeking victory over the Russian aggressor, a just peace, and unity within the Church.
Following this, the Metropolitan and his delegation visited the Chora Church. This site is a remarkable historical and artistic treasure, renowned for its unique mosaics and frescoes from the Byzantine era.
