Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, presided over a prayer service for Ukraine on August 21, 2026, at St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv.
Joining the Metropolitan in prayer were Archpriest Vitaliy Danchak, members of the monastic brotherhood, People’s Artist of Ukraine Oksana Bilozir, and participants in the Third International Meeting of Ukrainians Worldwide.
During the service, a special prayer was offered for Ukraine as the country continues to face the trials and dangers of war.
At the conclusion of the prayer service, Metropolitan Epifaniy addressed those present and presented Church awards.
In his remarks, the Primate emphasized the importance of common prayer and the unity of the Ukrainian people during the ongoing war. He called on Ukrainians to support one another and show compassion, particularly toward those who have lost everything as a result of the hostilities.
Metropolitan Epifaniy also stressed the importance of upholding moral values and following the Gospel commandment of love.
According to the Metropolitan, adherence to these principles will help the Ukrainian people overcome the actions of the enemy, strengthen the Ukrainian state, and further develop the country’s local autocephalous Orthodox Church.
