Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine expressed his profound sorrow over the passing of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania in an official message.
“Archbishop Anastasios’ life was a testament to his unwavering devotion to God and his service to humanity,” Metropolitan Epifaniy stated. “He was a globally respected hierarch and missionary, dedicated to rebuilding the ecclesiastical life of the Church of Albania, which rose like a phoenix from the ashes after decades of atheistic persecution.”
The Metropolitan highlighted Archbishop Anastasios’ tireless efforts to restore the Church and his commitment to spreading the Word of God among his flock. “His image and teachings will forever be etched in the hearts of those he shepherded. Though his earthly heart has ceased to beat, his prayers and memory will live on eternally in the Church.”
On behalf of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy extended his heartfelt condolences to the bishops, clergy, and faithful of the Orthodox Church of Albania, as well as to all who knew and loved His Beatitude.
“We pray and trust that the soul of Archbishop Anastasios will find eternal rest in the home of our Heavenly Father. May the Lord grant strength to those mourning this great loss, reminding them of His promise: ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’ (John 11:25).”
