Metropolitan Emmanuel of France officiated the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Stephen in Paris, on Sunday, January 17, 2021.
In his sermon, the Metropolitan of France referred to today’s evangelical pericope on Jesus’ cleansing of ten lepers.
He spoke of the power of Jesus Christ to heal every sickness when we seek His mercy in faith. The Metropolitan spoke of the significance of gratitude to our benefactors and especially to God for all the good He offers us, even for our own life which is His gift.
He also linked leprosy to all the other diseases and pandemics that have plagued humankind over the centuries. He referred to the COVID-19 pandemic that claimed the lives of thousands of people around the world. The Metropolitan stressed that the faithful must pray and strengthen their faith to be saved from this great evil, and that they must show confidence in science, which is knowledge, that is, a Divine gift in the service of man which they must respect and honor.
