On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the feast of the 318 God-bearing Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, a Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Metropolitan Church of Saint Paraskevi in Therapia, presided over by Metropolitan Apostolos. Also participating in prayer were Metropolitan Theoleptos and Bishop Paisios.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Apostolos honored the Fr. Adamantios Kokkinakis, rector of the Metropolitan Church, for his ten years of devoted ministry by conferring upon him the offikion of Protopresbyter of the Holy Metropolis of Derkoi.
In his address, the Metropolitan praised Fr. Adamantios as “a child of Imbros and of our Greek Orthodox community,” highlighting his upbringing within the traditions of the Romioi and his longstanding dedication to the Church. He referred to Fr. Adamantios’ education at the Zappeion School, the historic Zographeion Lyceum, and the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as his postgraduate studies in Church History. He also noted that Fr. Adamantios is currently a doctoral candidate at the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Metropolitan Apostolos also expressed his joy and blessings toward the family of the newly honored clergyman, including his wife, child, parents, and his brother, Bishop Paisios of Xanthoupolis, emphasizing their loving support throughout his priestly ministry.
After the service, a festive reception was offered in the narthex of the Metropolitan Church, where the newly elevated Fr. Adamantios responded with emotion, thanking the hierarchs and all those in attendance.
