Metropolitan Ignatius of Demetrias referred to the criticality of the relations between the Church and the State, especially at the moment.
At a special event, Metropolitan Ignatius presented the appointments of the new boards of the parish Philanthropic Funds and the soup kitchen of the Local Church.
In his speech, the Metropolitan expressed his thanks and confidence for the work being done, while praising the work of the Clergy in managing these funds.
Also, with regard to Church-State relations, Metropolitan of Demetrias stated that “people with ideological obsessions, with old forms in their minds, are making erroneous decisions against the Church. Do not be silent and do not remain idle when our Church is being slandered.”
He also calls on the people to defend the priests, emphasizing “Tell what priest means in the Greek society. Who is the one who offends the priests by saying that he will dismiss them to appoint others? Who gave him the right to do this?”
At another point in his speech he draws attention to the unity of the people, when others invest in the division, as he characteristically said.
“Everything flounders around us. What unites us is our Orthodox faith, our Tradition, our History, our Church. Obsessive people and dastards are only a few. They only know how to destroy and divide. And when we were divided, we paid it with great national losses.”
