Religious events in Corfu continue as a remembrance of the miracle of Saint Spyridon and the liberation of the island from the Hagarenes in 1716.
On Monday morning, August 12, 2019, a polyarchieratic concelebration was held at the Sacred Pilgrimage, officiated by Metropolitan Timotheos of Thessaly, with concelebrants Metropolitan Theocletos of Stagoi and Meteora, and Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands.
The Metropolitan of Corfu pointed out that our era has a special need for unity, love and communion.
The Divine Word was preached by Metropolitan Stephanos of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos.
He also stressed that the greatest treasure we Orthodox have is our Saints.
“Our whole country, and especially our heroic Macedonia, is drenched in the blood of Saints and martyrs and our people know this very well,” he said.
