Today, Thursday, May 9, the memory of Saint Christopher the Great Martyr was celebrated at the homonymous church in Ano Neapolis, Nicaea.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Bishop Prokopios of Christianopolis along with the Chief of the church, Archim. Nikolaos Krasas, the Rector of the Odessa Theological Seminary, Serafim, and clergy of the Holy Metropolis of Nicaea.
The Divine Word was preached by father Jacob Delles, who referred to the message of the Resurrection and Saint Christopher, stating inter alia that: “The Resurrection of the Lord is not just a formality but a fact of substance.”
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Bishop of Christianopolis conveyed the patronial wishes of Metropolitan Alexios of Nicaea and emphasized: “I wish Saint Christopher to give you the same power that Christ has given him. Do not be afraid to confess your faith to Christ, especially in our time, that our faith is being mocked, ridiculed, challenged and accused by many.”
“And we, as young martyrs, not of blood but of conscience, are compelled in our day to confess our faith in Christ,” the Bishop said.
