On Sunday, November 29, 2020, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Brazzaville and Gabon celebrated the eighth anniversary since the unanimous election by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the episcopal consecration.
During the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, which was performed at the Cathedral of St. Dimitrios in Pointe-Noire, Protopresbyter Maximos Oumba, General Hierarchical Vicar of Brazzaville, referred to the progress made in the local Church over a period of eight years, while expressing the gratitude of the congregation to its shepherd.
The Metropolitan thanked all the Churches-members of the National Council of Christian Churches of Congo for the sincere cooperation and valuable unity that brought these results with the blessing of God.
The Metropolitan of Brazzaville expressed his gratitude and respect to the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, for awarding him the highest distinction of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, the Knight-Officer of the National Battalions, which is a recognition of the efforts of the Orthodox Church of Brazzaville.
Finally, he expressed love and gratitude to the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the members of the Holy Synod, to the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the missionary organizations and associations, the Archdioceses, Metropolises and Monasteries of Greece, Cyprus, USA, Australia, Canada and elsewhere in the world, which financially, materially and morally support the work of the local Church in the midst of a global financial crisis and pandemic, building bridges of friendship with the Congolese people, as well as helping in good faith the missionary work carried out in Congo.
