The Metropolis of Bessarabia celebrates the Nativity of the Lord on January 7, according to the unrevised Julian calendar. On this occasion, Metropolitan Petru sent a message in which he emphasized that with the Lord’s Nativity “all are reborn and truly renewed, for all who have unwavering, constant and authentic faith in the saving power of God.”
The Metropolitan of Bessarabia reviewed the difficult year that ended and emphasized that 2021 is the year of “Romanians outside Romania”.
“If for some, who are subject to tax assessments it seems a lost year, for the Church it was a year in which it gained a clear picture of the depth of faith and steadfastness in it, thus understanding that we need much effort to become worthy sons and daughters of the Kingdom of God.”
“This makes us responsible and urges us to wake up from the daily comfort, because the Enemy and the enemies of the Church are in an ample process of denigration of the Ancestral Orthodox Church, through different and multiple instruments.”
“The year that begins is our special year, because the Romanian Patriarchate has declared 2021 a Solemn Year of the pastoral care of Romanians outside Romania and that is why we urge you all, at the beginning of the year, to be kinder, more loving, more prayerful and more merciful to our neighbours.”
“Let us show by deeds that we are faithful and that we are Romanians, from the same beautiful Nation, with an Orthodoxy of about two thousand years and with beautiful traditions, which we have inherited, preserved and cultivated in the hearts of the generations that come after us.”.
“Let us be joyful about each other more! Let’s pray more for each other! Let’s support each other more! Let us not forget the more troubled than us, the poor, those who are suffering or lie on hospital beds,” Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia urged.
