Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation on Monday—according to the unrevised Julian calendar—at the Church of “Saint John Jacob” in Chișinău’s Ciocana district.
Fr. Anatolie Goncear, parish priest of the “Three Holy Hierarchs” Church in Chișinău, delivered the sermon during the Divine Liturgy, emphasizing the importance of a humble response to God’s calling:
“The Annunciation reminds us that, when faced with the divine call, the faithful person’s answer is always one of humility: ‘Be it unto me according to thy word’—this is the response that opens heaven and brings Christ into the world,” said Fr. Anatolie Goncear.
At the end of the service, Metropolitan Petru addressed the faithful, encouraging them to remain rooted in love for God and the Church.
The metropolitan thanked the congregation for supporting parish priest Alexei Semionov and highlighted the abundant fruits of the parish’s missionary, pastoral, and social work carried out faithfully over more than two decades.
During the service, a priest was ordained for the parish of “Saint George the Great Martyr” in the city of Cornești, Ungheni district.
