The General Directorate of Worship of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Mr. Alassane Dramane Ouattara, and in cooperation with the Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Accra, is organizing and funding for the first time a ten-day pilgrimage trip of Orthodox clergy and laypeople to Greece, from June 16 to 26, 2025.
The purpose of the trip is to familiarize participants with the Orthodox faith and tradition, as well as with Greek culture.
The pilgrimage will be led by Metropolitan Daniel of Accra and will include ten clergy members and fourteen laypeople from Côte d’Ivoire.
The pilgrims will visit Athens, Patras, Zakynthos, the Holy Meteora, Thessaloniki, and Mount Athos.
The delegation will be accompanied by Mr. Zoro Epiphane Ballo, President of the High Authority for Good Governance of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, along with officials from the Authority and other government ministries.
The national television broadcaster Télévision Ivoirienne (RTI) will also participate and will broadcast the pilgrimage to viewers across the country.
This pilgrimage is the result of meetings and pastoral efforts of Metropolitan Daniel with state authorities and marks the beginning of close cooperation between the State of Côte d’Ivoire and the Holy Metropolis of Accra.
