The Service of the Opening of the Doors (Thyranoixia) of the Church of St. Marina was celebrated in an atmosphere of spiritual joy and thanksgiving in the village of Lugar, in the Dropull region, marking the beginning of liturgical life in the newly restored sacred space.
The service was presided over by Metropolitan Nathaniel of Gjirokaster, in the presence of clergy and a large gathering of faithful from the surrounding area. The celebration continued with Matins and a festive Divine Liturgy, during which the villagers participated prayerfully and with deep devotion.
In his homily, Metropolitan Nathaniel emphasized the importance of living faith and active participation in the worship life of the Church. He noted that churches are places where people encounter God and receive spiritual strength and encouragement for their daily lives.
The Metropolitan also spoke about the life and martyrdom of St. Marina, presenting her as a model of unwavering faith, courage, and devotion to Christ. He encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from her example and to remain steadfast in their faith amid the challenges and trials of contemporary life.
