Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago was deeply honored to lead a Sunday reflection on daily Orthodoxy at the 2026 YAL Chicago Conference.
Speaking to this group of young adult leaders from all over the country at St. Andrews GOC, Chicago, he shared insight on how our traditions can flourish in our modern lives. It was a call to move beyond the pews and bring the light of Christ into our careers, our homes, and our communities.
He also spoke deeply about the beauty of personal worship as a young adult. He reminded that while we often give ourselves a hard time over past mistakes or poor decisions, God is infinitely merciful. Our private moments of prayer and reflection are not about achieving perfection, but about opening our hearts to that grace—allowing our faith to become a living, breathing part of who we are every single day. As he shared: “We don’t change so that we can earn God’s love, God already loves us, and it is His love that allows us to change.
