On Thursday, October 15, 2020, Metropolitan Joseph met with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in his office at the Department of State in Washington D.C. The two leaders discussed ongoing issues of importance in the Middle East, with Sayidna offering his expertise, particularly in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine, and the critical situation in that region.
Sayidna Joseph thanked Secretary Pompeo for their meeting, and for his friendship, attention, and deep interest in the security of the region. The Metropolitan also conveyed the greetings of Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, as well as of the clergy and laity of Antiochian Archdiocese of North America.
