Metropolitan Epiphanius: The Church of Greece recognized de facto our Church (upd)

Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev stated that the Church of Greece recognized de facto the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine.

Metropolitan of Kiev made that statement during a concelebration of the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the 1031st anniversary of Baptism of Kievan Rus’.

At the end of the festal Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Epiphanius stressed that “the Church of Greece recognized de facto our Church.”

“We are working very hard to get recognition from all the Churches. This effort is reflected in the participation of our Hierarch in celebrations in Greece. Besides, today’s participation of the Greek Hierarch shows that our Church is de facto recognized,” Metropolitan Epiphanius said.

Finally, Metropolitan Epiphanius expressed his hope that the others Orthodox Churches would recognize the Church of Ukraine, underlining that “the road before us is not easy and the process takes time.”

It is recalled that Metropolitan of Langadas and Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kiev concelebrated the Divine Liturgy dedicated to the 1031st anniversary of Baptism of Kievan Rus’.

Also a few days ago, Metropolitan Ioannis celebrated the Divine Liturgy with Bishop Germanos of Chernivtsi of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine in Langadas.

Metropolitan of Langadas: I went to Kiev in my Academic capacity

His response to the question raised about his presence in Kiev, Ukraine, for the events in honour of St. Vladimir, was given by Metropolitan Ioannis of Langadas.

As he says, he went to Kiev in his academic capacity “as a professor of the Theological School of the University of Uzhhorod in western Ukraine.

He added that he did not attend the events as a representative of the Church of Greece, which has not taken yet a synodal decision regarding the recognition of the Autocephalous Church of Ukraine.
