Today, the Orthodox Church honors Saint Epiphanius of Cyprus, remembered in Church history as an unwavering defender against false teachings and heresies.
Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, whose monastic name was taken in honor of the saint, reflected on the significance of Saint Epiphanius’s witness in a special message: “Saint Epiphanius of Cyprus, whose name I received during my monastic tonsure, carried out his ministry during a turbulent time for the Church, when various heresies and disputes deeply troubled it. But he, grounded in the Gospel of Christ and standing firmly on the rock of truth, resisted all these challenges.”
Drawing inspiration from the saint’s legacy, Metropolitan Epifaniy emphasized the call to remain faithful to the core tenets of Orthodox Christianity: “We must do the same: hold on to the truth, rely on the Gospel, on the Word of God and the teachings of the Holy Fathers, and remain rooted in the true tradition of the fullness of Orthodoxy. In doing so, we will find success and overcome even those obstacles that today may seem insurmountable.”
On May 11, 2025, on the eve of the feast day of his heavenly patron, Saint Epiphanius, Bishop of Cyprus, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine presided over a solemn All-Night Vigil at the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in the heart of the capital.
The Primate of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine was joined in the service by hierarchs from across the country, the venerable brotherhood of the monastery, and numerous clergy.
During the polyeleos, His Beatitude anointed the faithful present with holy oil, offering a moment of spiritual grace and blessing to all those gathered for the celebration.
