Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv celebrated an Akathist service to Saint Barbara on May 5, 2026, at the St. Volodymyr Patriarchal Cathedral before the incorrupt relics of the saint.
Joining the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in prayer were the cathedral’s rector, Archpriest Borys Tabachek, members of the cathedral clergy, and invited clergy from other parishes.
Following the Akathist service, a memorial litany for the repose of the soul of the late Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv was served at his grave.
The services took place in an atmosphere of prayerful reverence, as faithful gathered to honor Saint Barbara and remember the late Patriarch Filaret, a prominent figure in the history of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
