Metropolitan of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg Athinagoras welcomed the new Ambassador of Greece to Belgium, Dionysios Kalamvrezos, on Friday morning, September 13, 2019, at the headquarters of the Holy Metropolis in Brussels.
The new ambassador wanted to receive the blessing of Metropolitan Athinagoras a few days after taking up his duties and was committed to good cooperation between the Greek Embassy and the local Church in Belgium for the sake of Greek community in Benelux.
On his part, the Metropolitan thanked the ambassador for visiting him, wished him strength and much success in his diplomatic mission, and briefed him on the current issues and problems of the Metropolis.
He also referred to the forthcoming visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to Belgium in November, as part of the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee of the Holy Metropolis, during which the ambassador assured the Metropolitan that the Greek Embassy would provide its services whenever deemed necessary by the Holy Metropolis.
