With feelings of joy and heartfelt emotion, the Sacred Metropolis of New Jersey extended its warmest congratulations to Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey, who was elected by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as the new Archbishop of Canada.
In an announcement, the clergy of the Sacred Metropolis of New Jersey, together with the members of the Metropolis Council, the members of the Philoptochos Society, and the faithful of the local Church, offered their heartfelt wishes to the newly elected Archbishop, proclaiming: “Axios! Axios! Axios!”
The announcement emphasized that His Eminence’s election represents a recognition of his devoted ministry, pastoral care, and steadfast service to the Church as a Hierarch.
“Over the past three years, we have been blessed to know His Eminence as a true spiritual father and chief shepherd of our Sacred Metropolis, whose wisdom, compassion, and steadfast leadership have enriched the lives of our clergy and faithful alike,” the announcement stated.
The Sacred Metropolis of New Jersey noted that this moment is a “bittersweet” one, as it bids farewell to a Shepherd who distinguished himself through his fatherly love and pastoral presence. At the same time, it expressed joy and gratitude for the new mission entrusted to him by the Mother Church.
The Metropolis also prayed that the Lord may continue to strengthen the new Archbishop of Canada with abundant wisdom, unwavering faith, fatherly love, and every spiritual gift, as he faithfully shepherds the flock of the Holy Archdiocese of Canada.
