In an encyclical, the Metropolis of Korea announced that the Vigil service for the Apodosis (leavetaking) of Pascha would take place on Tuesday, May 26, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. with the participation of only young faithful and without the participation of people belonging to vulnerable groups.
Initially, on April 3, the Metropolis had announced that “God willing, we hope that we will all be able to celebrate together in our Churches the great Feast of Easter on the night of May 26.”
On this day, forty days after Easter, during the Apodosis of Pascha, according to the Typikon of our Church, we perform the same Service and Liturgy as on the night of the Resurrection and sing “Christ is Risen” for the last time.”
Ωστόσο, the recent developments with the many new cases that have occurred in the country do not allow the Metropolis to realize this desire.
Therefore, ‘after much regret’, the Vigil (Agrypnia) for the Apodosis of Pascha will take place on Tuesday, May 26, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., with the participation of ONLY young believers and without the participation of people belonging to vulnerable groups.
Participants are asked to please strictly observe the prescribed measures; that is, they will come with a mask, which they will wear throughout the Vigil, they will disinfect their hands before entering the Holy Church, they will accept to have their temperature examined, they will note their contact details (home address and telephone) in a special booklet, which will be on the narthex of the Church, and will sit at a distance of two meters from each other.
“Hoping that until the great Feast of Pentecost, better conditions will prevail, so that the uninterrupted attendance of ALL the faithful in our Orthodox Metropolis of Korea will be possible, we wish you good health and all the support and blessings from our Risen Lord,” concluded the encyclical.
