The Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Ireland announced with deep sadness the passing of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania, who fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 95.
Archbishop Anastasios served the Church faithfully throughout his life as a clergyman and professor, holding various positions across different countries. His tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to the faith left an indelible mark on Orthodoxy worldwide.
In 1992, he was elected Archbishop of Albania, where he undertook the monumental task of reviving and re-establishing the Orthodox Church in the country. With great faith, unconditional love, and countless sacrifices, he restored the Church, leading it from desolation to spiritual flourishing, all for the glory of God.
The Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Ireland offers heartfelt prayers for his eternal repose, saying:
“May God rest his soul among the Saints!”
