A multidimensional educational initiative held in Dublin from March 6–9, 2026, concluded with remarkable success, bringing together academic, cultural, and spiritual perspectives within the framework of programs organized by the Patriarchal Foundation for Patristic Studies.
The program was implemented in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Ireland, alongside educational and environmental organizations from Greece, aiming to highlight the historic ties between Orthodoxy and the Celtic world, as well as the global pastoral mission of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Participants attended the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Annunciation in Dublin, presided over by Metropolitan Iakovos of Ireland, followed by an academic conference titled “Orthodoxy on the Island of the Celts – Orthodox Tradition and Environmental Witness.”
Speakers and contributors explored the spiritual heritage of Ireland, the legacy of its saints, and the connection between Orthodox theology and environmental responsibility. The event also featured presentations by students, highlighting cultural and spiritual links between Greece and Ireland.
The initiative, conducted in both Greek and English, included participation from educators and members of the Orthodox community in Dublin. It concluded with cultural visits and discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation.
Organizers described the program as the first step toward establishing a long-term educational and spiritual bridge with the newly founded Metropolis of Ireland. Plans are already underway for a biennial international conference focusing on Orthodox cosmology, Celtic spirituality, and ecological ethics, further promoting dialogue between faith, education, and environmental awareness.
