On Sunday, December 8, 2024, a Divine Liturgy was held at the Sacred Church of St. George of the Makrochori Community, with Metropolitan Elder Apostolos of Derkoi presiding.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a Trisagion service was performed in memory of the distinguished archaeologist Theodoros Makridis, who was originally from Makrochori, Constantinople, and whose tomb is located at the Cemetery Church of the Holy Ascension of Christ, Makrochori.
The Byzantine Choir “Byzantine Analogio of Kalamaria” attended the service, and after the Divine Liturgy, they sang carols in celebration of the upcoming Christmas holiday.
At the end of the service, the Metropolitan announced that in the new year, a memorial service will be held for the renowned archaeologist in the Makrochori Community, where he and other scholars will speak about his work and contributions.
