The Metropolis of Belgium celebrated solemnly the feast of Saint Barbara.
In the evening of December 3, 2019, the Metropolitan of Belgium presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Parish of St. Barbara in Liège. The Divine Speech was proclaimed by Hieromonk Filadelfos Kafalis, who is the director of the Metropolitan’s office, referring to the importance of the life and martyrdom of St. Barbara for the Christian faithful today.
On December 4, 2019, and the feast day, the Metropolitan of Belgium officiated the Divine Liturgy at St. Barbara’s Parish in Genk, concelebrated by priests of the Limburg region. The Divine Speech was proclaimed by the Preacher of the Metropolis, Archimandrite Ioakeim Archontos, who referred to the life of St. Barbara. At the end of the liturgy, the Metropolitan of Belgium thanked the parish priests for the pastoral work they carry out in their parishes and the clergy for their presence.
Afterwards, a luncheon was held for the congregation.
