On the occasion of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek National Uprising for the overthrow of the Ottoman yoke (March 25, 1821 – March 25, 2021), the Holy Metropolis of Austria and the Greek National School in Vienna created a ten-minute short film.
This film mentions the Greek Clergy, Poets, and Scholars of Vienna. The cosmopolitan Vienna was one of the largest religious and cultural centers of Hellenism in the Diaspora. The liberation struggle of the Greeks was significantly supported and strengthened by Vienna. The film with images and words reminds us of the heroes of the Uprising of 1821 and all the Martyrs who gave their lives for the Holy Faith in Christ and the Freedom of their beloved homeland Greece. May their memory be eternal.
