A Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated yesterday, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the day that our Orthodox Church commemorates his holy memory, at the church dedicated to his name, located in the Gomoa Afransi area of the Central Region of Ghana.
Metropolitan Daniel of Accra presided over the service with the assistance of the Fathers Alexis and Aidesios.
The church was filled with the faithful who came to pray to Apostle James and to meet their shepherd, who visited them for the first time.
The Church Council of the Orthodox Community welcomed the Metropolitan, expressing their gratitude for his positive response to their invitation and emphasizing the great blessing felt by all from the Metropolitan’s presence.
“We are and shall remain the faithful spiritual children of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and your own, for we know when, how, and by whom we received our Orthodoxy in the past… and we shall never forget it,” stated the members of the Council.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan offered gifts and blessings to the entire congregation, with the faithful offering fruits, singing, and dancing hymns of praise to God, accompanied by traditional local Ghanaian instruments.
Metropolitan Daniel inspected the exterior areas of the church and discussed with the parish priest and the Parish Council matters of concern and ways to increase the Orthodox presence in the region.
