Bishop Agathonikos of Arusha and Central Tanzania visited the re-established diocese of Bukoba at the behest of Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria.
The Bishop of Arusha conveyed the message of love and peace of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria to the priests of the diocese of Bukoba.
The priests of the diocese, accepted enthusiastically the unity message of the Patriarch as the only solution to the problems that have plagued for years their bishopric and unanimously declared their commitment to the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa and its Primate.
It should be noted that the diocese of Bukoba is the oldest orthodox bishopric in Tanzania, since its first priest, Fr. Sosthenis Kiyonga, was ordained in 1985.
The decision of Patriarch Theodore II for re-establishing it is an indication of the importance of the bishopric but also of the need to restart the missionary activities in the area.
