The Orthodox Church commemorates Venerable Theodosius, the Cenobiarch. He was born in Cappadocia to pious parents. He lived under Emperors Leo and Anastasius.
Venerable Theodosius became a monk and distinguished himself by his ascetic way of life, which he aligned with the will of God, and he was abstinent, righteous, and modest. In addition, during that time, he met other well-known ascetics, such as Saint Simeon the Stylite, but then he decided to leave the place where he was preaching the word of God to other monks.
He performed many miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit. He fell asleep in the Lord in old age in AD 529.
Venerable Theodosius fought long and hard during his life, as he was singing hymns, fasting, keeping vigil, and, therefore, he became a role model for his disciplines.
