By Bishop Grigorios of Mesaoria
Our Church celebrates today the memory of Venerable Theodore the Wonderworker, Bishop of Tamassos, Cyprus, and Venerable John (Lampadistes) the Wonderworker.
Saint Theodore, Bishop of Tamassos, the Theophorus, is one of the first Christians in Cyprus, while Venerable John, whose is also commemorated today, was from the village of Lampadou, lived as an anachorite. He was deemed worthy to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Cyprus is rightly called the “Island of the Saints” because many virtuous and pious people, with fear of God, lived on Cyprus. Throughout the ages, there are loyal fighters who experience the love of God and are always devoted to the will of the Lord.
