Today the Church celebrates the memory of Saint Theokliti the Wonderworker.
Saint Theokliti lived during the 9th century AD under the reign of King Theophilos the Iconoclast and came from Theme of the Optimatoi. Her parents Constantine and Anastasia were quite wealthy and above all pious Christians. They nurtured their daughter Theokliti to be faithful, pious, modest and constantly studied the Holy Scriptures.
When Saint Theokliti married Zacharias, a pious and merciful man, she became a model Christian wife. Her house was constantly open to the unfortunate, the widows, the orphans and the poor heads of families. She often went to the poor herself and generously distributed alms and care to the sick.
She continued her charity until the very end. Her sacred relic was deemed worthy to be the source of many healing and miracles.
