The Church commemorates St. Theodotus, Bishop of Kyrenia, Martyrs Euthalia the Virgin and Hesychius the Senator, as well as the modern Saint Nicholas Planas of Athens (1851-1932), a spiritual father and virtuous priest in Athens.
Saint Theodotus, Bishop of Kyrenia, lived at the beginning of the 4th century when pagan rules had unleashed persecution against Christians. With his great fervency for the Christian faith, the ruler Sabinus was infuriated due to his activity, arrested him and tried to persuade him to renounce his faith in Christ.
Theodotus not only did not renounce his faith, but also spoke boldly to the ruler against the pagan delusion, and tried to convince him to deny the false gods. Then Sabinus arrogantly ordered his arrest, tortured him severely, and threw him in prison.
Later, during the reign of Constantine the Great, the Hierarch was released and continued his pastoral work with more fervency and love. He reposed in the Lord after having left a rich spiritual work.
