Our Holy Church today commemorates the memory of Saint Martyr Myron, who lived in Achaia during the time of Decius, Roman Emperor from 249 to 251.
Myron was arrested and subjected to horrific torture because of his strong attitude towards the impious Governor Antipater, who wanted to eradicate any Christian element in the area.
However, the grace of Christ and Virgin Mary rescued him, resulting in many idolaters being led to true faith.
Finally, Saint Myron was sent in chains to Cyzikus (Kizika), where he suffered a awful martyrdom, as he was beheaded by order of the local lord.
