The memory of Saint Kosmas the Aetolian was celebrated with great splendor in Albania, drawing numerous believers from both Albania and Greece. On the morning of the feast, Saturday, August 24, a Hierarchical Co-liturgy was held at the Holy Monastery dedicated to the Saint. The service was celebrated by Metropolitans Nicholas of Apollonia and Fier, Amantia Nathaniel, and Bishop Astios of Bylis, with the participation of many priests.
Archimandrite Kosmas Priftis delivered the homily, reflecting on the life and martyrdom of Saint Kosmas. Following the Divine Liturgy, a procession of the icon and the relics of the Saint took place around the Holy Monastery, adding to the solemnity of the occasion.
The worship events were graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including the Regional Governor of Epirus, Mr. Alexandros Kachrimanis, Professor Emeritus of the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr. Michalis Tritos, and the President of the Society for Byzantine Studies of Preveza, Archon Depoutatos of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Mr. Evangelos Katsimpras.
Adjacent to the Church is the tomb of Saint Kosmas, with his relics usually kept in the Archdiocese of Tirana and transferred to the Monastery only on the day of his feast. The celebrations concluded with a reception at the Monastery, providing an opportunity for fellowship and reflection on the life and teachings of Saint Kosmas.
