The Church commemorates the Holy 33 Martyrs of Melitini as well as Saints Melanippus and Cassina and their son Antonius, who came from Ankara in Asia Minor and lived under the reign of Emperor Julian the Apostate.
Saints Melanippus and Cassina were virtuous Christians and raised their son Antonius in Christian Faith.
When Agrippin became aware of their virtuous lives, he tried to change their faith by telling them that their child’s life depended on them and that if they renounced their Christian faith, he would not harm their son. Agrippin told Saint Antonius that he could save his parents if he renounced his faith in Christ.
They were not afraid to be martyred, for they were wholeheartedly devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ. Agrippin was enraged, when he heard them praising Jesus Christ, and ordered their torture. However, with the help of God, Saint Antonius remained harmless thanks to his courage and steadfastness in his faith.
Eventually the saints were beheaded and received the crown of martyrdom and glory of the Kingdom of God.
