The Church celebrates the memory of Martyr Nestor, a disciple of Great-Martyr Dimitrios, and Saint Claudia Procula, wife of Pontius Pilate.
Saint Nestor came from Thessaloniki. He remained faithful to Christ and to the advice of his teacher until the end and could not bear to listen to the pagans and in fact the mighty Lyaeus, who were insulting the Lord and mocking Christians.
Thus, he asked for the wish of the imprisoned Saint Dimitrios and by the power of God, he fought Lyaeus and defeated him. As a result, he was slain by the sword. In this way, he was deemed worthy to receive the crown of martyrdom and be one worthy soldier of Christ.
The temptation of atheism, arrogance, power, contempt for righteousness, and morality did not appear only during the time that the young Nestor lived. It is a dominant element in every age attacking with rage all Christians, but especially the young.
