The Church commemorates Great-martyr Barbara.
Saint Barbara lived in the 3rd century AD. Her father was one of the richest pagans in Heliopolis in Egypt.
She was catechized in the Christian faith by a pious Christian. When her father was informed that his daughter had embraced Christianity, he ordered her to be severely restricted. However, Barbara was brave enough to escape and she was hiding in caves for a long time.
He was eventually arrested and brought to the governor of the region. She was tortured, exiled, and finally beheaded by her father, after remaining faithful to Jesus the Redeemer until her death.
