Condolences from Archbishop of Australia
Archbishop Makarios of Australia expressed the condolences of the local Church to Presbytera Marina, the three children, and the other relatives of the late Presbyter.
In a statement of condolence, he said: “We bid farewell to Fr. Konstantinos with deep emotion and a mixture of joyful sorrow. As a community, we deeply mourn the loss of a worthy and virtuous clergyman, whose love for the Church was truly exemplary. Fr. Konstantinos, a dedicated servant in the Lord’s vineyard here in Australia, faithfully served his community with devotion, ecclesiastical integrity, and, most importantly, great love. That’s why he was loved by our people. While we feel pain and sorrow at his loss, we find comfort in the knowledge that Fr. Konstantinos now walks the blessed path of eternity, “where there is no pain, no sorrow, no sigh.”
Curriculum vitae of the deceased
The late clergyman had been born in Vafkeri, Lefkada, in 1940. In 1958, he traveled to Halki, Princes’ Islands, to pursue his studies at the Historical Theological School of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. After completing his theological studies, he emigrated to Australia to serve the Greek diaspora under Archbishop Ezekiel.
In 1962, Archbishop Ezekiel ordained him as a Deacon and Presbyter, assigning him the task of founding a new Greek Orthodox parish in Richmond, Melbourne, dedicated to the Holy Trinity. In 1962, Archbishop Ezekiel ordained him as a Deacon and Presbyter and tasked him with establishing a new Greek Orthodox parish in Richmond, Melbourne, dedicated to the Holy Trinity. In the same spirit, he served in other parishes of the Holy Archdiocese in Melbourne in the last years of his life.
It is worth noting that the late Fr. Konstantinos had met and maintained a close association with Elder Amphilochios Makris of the Holy Island of Patmos, who was canonized in 2018 by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. His parishioners were frequently blessed to hear him share spiritual insights drawn from his friendship with Saint Amphilochios.
