The President of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Hellenic Wheelchair Basketball Federation, Mr. Christos Kaloudis, accompanied by the Federation’s volunteer scientific associate, Mr. Dimitris Anyfantakis visited the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
The Ecumenical Patriarch, who warmly welcomed the two representatives of the Federation, was thoroughly briefed by Mr. Kaloudis on issues concerning sports for people with disabilities in Greece. In addition, our President gave a concise presentation of the entire development plan for wheelchair basketball, explaining the potential of the sport, as well as the challenges and significant shortcomings that hinder its growth in Greece.
For his part, the Ecumenical Patriarch, known worldwide for his tremendous efforts in supporting people with disabilities, showed great interest in the Federation’s initiatives and overall work. He also expressed his desire to contribute in any way possible to the continued development of wheelchair basketball in our country.
At the end of the meeting, which lasted more than half an hour, the Ecumenical Patriarch was photographed with our representatives holding a jersey of the Greek National Wheelchair Basketball Team.
