Photographic snapshots from the meeting of Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and all Africa with the Prime Minister of Rwanda Edouard Enzirad, during the recent official visit of the Patriarch to the Holy Metropolis of Burundi and Rwanda.
Specifically, on Saturday, October 29, 2002, the Primate of the Alexandrian Church, accompanied by the Ambassador of Egypt Rania El Banna, the local Metropolitan Innocent of Burundi and Rwanda, the Metropolitans Ieronymos of Kampala and Hariton of Kananga as well as Bishop Neophytos of Nyeri, was received by the Prime Minister of Rwanda at the Prime Minister’s Palace. The Prime Minister thanked Patriarch Theodore for his first visit to developing Rwanda and assured him of the state’s full support for the local Orthodox Church.
Patriarch Theodore informed the Prime Minister about the centuries-old course of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa, as well as the generally diverse pastoral, social, and humanitarian work carried out in all the states of the African continent. Finally, he also expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame for his understanding towards the Orthodox community.
