Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa warmly received yesterday the Commander of the National Guard of Cyprus, Lieutenant General Democritus Zervakis.
Welcoming the Commander of the National Guard, in the presence of the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus of Naucratis, and the Holy Clergy of the Patriarchal Court, the Alexandrian Prelate thanked President Nikos Anastasiades and the Archbishop for their contribution to the missionary work of Africa, emphasizing:
“In your person, my General, I salute the glorious and blessed island of Cyprus, the efforts you make to give a strong presence in the Mediterranean.
And to say a big thank you to President Nikos Anastasiades, our Archbishop and beloved brother Chrysostomos II.
A big big thank you because your presence paves the way. Two thousand years ago, Alexander the Great opened the way for love.
You, our Egypt, our Greece, and our Cyprus, give a dynamic presence and help people to know that above all, justice, peace, and reconciliation of the peoples are of great importance”.
At the same time, the Prelate of Alexandria blessed the people of Cyprus and the enlisted youth, wishing justice to come to the place, noting:
“I greet the people of Cyprus with great love. I bless our enlisted youth in this blessed corner of the earth, in our Cyprus.
And my prayer before the Virgin Mary the Hodegetria, to give them health but above all justification.
The justification for the visions. Thank you, my General. And know that Egypt really loves us.
And to say a big thank you to our Cyprus because its people have a big heart and they do not forget us”.
The clear support of Egypt in the positions of the Republic of Cyprus was also recorded.
Shortly afterwards, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Egypt hosted a dinner in honor of the Commander of the National Guard of Cyprus and the Patriarch of Alexandria, at the Hellenic Naval Club of Alexandria.
The official visit of the Commander of the National Guard of Cyprus to Egypt ended yesterday.
