On September 3, the Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, received the new Defence Attaché of the General Staff of the Cypriot Army in Cairo, Mr. Georgios Hatzis, accompanied by the Defence Attaché of Cyprus, Lieutenant Colonel Mr. Kostas Fotiou, the Spanish MEP, Mrs. Joanne Mera and the President of the Cypriot Brotherhood in Egypt, Mrs. Maria Formozi.
The Patriach Theodore II of Alexandria thanked the attendees for their presence in Alexandria and their contribution to the Homeland, while referring to the multifaceted religious and humanitarian work performed by the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, throughout the African continent.
Also, the Patriarch of Alexandria did not hide his anxiety and concern for the Mediterranean, emphasizing that, “the Mediterranean must be a sea of peace, love, but also power”.
Afterwards, the visitors had the opportunity to be guided to the premises of the Archaeological Museum, the Patriarchal Library and the Patriarchal Sacristy.
Afterwards, the Patriarch of Alexandria received in his office the Metropolitan Nikolaos of Ermoupolis, Patriarchal Commissioner for the Arabic-speakers, who wished the Patriarch a fruitful new Ecclesiastical year, discussed issues related to the Orthodox flock of Egypt and informed him about the co-operation of the Orthodox Bishops of Middle East.
