On the afternoon of January 5, 2026, the newly elected President of the Eurogroup and Greece’s Minister of National Economy and Finance, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the eve of the Feast of Theophany.
It was his first visit since his unanimous election to this pivotal European position. He was warmly received by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The Ecumenical Patriarch congratulated the minister on his new European duties and wished him a productive term for the benefit of Greece and the European Union. In turn, the minister thanked the Ecumenical Patriarch for the warm welcome and cordial wishes.
During their meeting, which was also attended by the Grand Ecclesiarch, Aetios, Director of the Private Patriarchal Office, they discussed matters of mutual interest.
