Metropolitan Athenagoras of Ilion, Acharnes and Petroupolis and the Archimandrite of Panteleimon Papassynefakis visited on Thursday, August 8, 2019, the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection responsible for immigration policy, George Koumoutsakos.
During the meeting, the Metropolitan and the Archimandrite had the opportunity to present the long-term and complex work of the Center for the Support of repatriated migrants and immigrants in the field of legal and psychosocial support for refugees and migrants, as well as for repatriated Greeks from western Europe countries.
The Minister expressed his admiration for the important work that the Church of Greece is doing in this field as well. The common desire of both sides is to start constructive cooperation to successfully and fully address the refugee crisis that our country has been experiencing in recent years.
In this context, it was agreed to explore a specific framework of actions, the details of which will be finalized in the near future.
