On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the Clergy Syndesmos of the Archdiocesan District convened for a fruitful meeting at the parish of the Annunciation on the Upper West Side of New York City.
The meeting opened with a prayer led by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, who followed with welcome remarks, expressing his appreciation for the clergy’s continued dedication to their parishes and the Archdiocese. The meeting was marked by the presence and leadership of Archdiocese District Clergy Syndesmos and Archdiocese Presbyters Council President, Rev. Peter Orfanakos, who provided valuable guidance and updates on clergy and district ministry initiatives.
The meeting proceeded with reports from Archdiocesan District Chancellor Rev. Elias Villis and Treasurer Rev. Fr. Nikolas Karloutsos.
Among the highlights of the meeting was a special presentation by Angie Xidias, Founder of the Greek Elder Care Network, who shared valuable insights on supporting the aging members of the community.

- Review of the recent Clergy-Laity Congress in San Diego, CA
- The ongoing success of Camp Saint Paul
- The upcoming “Be Attentive Retreat” at Hellenic College Holy Cross (HCHC), is scheduled for October 11-13, 2025, with registration details available online.
- The Archdiocesan District GOYA trip to Boston and HCHC on October 26, 2024, led by Rev. Fr. Demetrios Kazakis.
- Plans for the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on November 2, 2024, celebrating the Feast Day of Saint Elpidophoros and the ordination of Gregory Gounardes to the Holy Diaconate at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City.
- A banquet in honor of Archbishop Elpidophoros’ Nameday on November 17, 2024, at Terrace on the Park.
- The Saint Michael’s Home Name Day Gala on November 10, 2024, at the Metropolitan Club in NYC.
Additional upcoming events were announced, including the Christmas Open House at the Archdiocese with Archbishop Elpidophoros on December 10, 2024, and the Archdiocesan District Clergy Family Vasilopita celebration on January 26, 2025, at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone, NY.
The meeting concluded with committee reports and open discussion on various initiatives, followed by a luncheon offered by the Ladies Philoptochos of the Annunciation parish.
