During his visit to Athens, Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain held an official meeting yesterday, June 16, 2026, with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The discussion, which took place in a particularly warm and cordial atmosphere, provided an excellent opportunity for an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, Archbishop Nikitas underscored the importance of safeguarding religious freedom at the international level, while also outlining the ministry and multifaceted work of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The enduring relationship between the United States of America and the Orthodox Christian world likewise featured prominently in the conversation. Referring to the role of religious communities, Archbishop Nikitas emphasized at length their substantial contribution to fostering dialogue, understanding, and cooperation within contemporary society. Particular reference was also made to the contribution of the Mother Church of Constantinople, which works tirelessly to strengthen inter-Christian relations and international engagement.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ms. Guilfoyle presented Archbishop Nikitas with a commemorative gift as a gesture of friendship and goodwill.
