On May 12, 2025, a meeting took place at the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) between its chairman, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, and Bishop Dimitri of Safita, who is currently on a pilgrimage within the territory of the Moscow Patriarchate.
Metropolitan Anthony warmly welcomed Bishop Dimitri, who shared his impressions and spiritual reflections from his ongoing pilgrimage.
The discussion focused on matters concerning the bilateral relations between the Moscow and Antiochian Patriarchates. The two hierarchs also exchanged views on current developments within global Orthodoxy.
Also present at the meeting were Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the DECR, and Alexander Cherkezov, President of the Christian World Union for the Promotion of Traditional Spiritual Values.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and ecclesiastical cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of Antioch.
